Maria De Vecchi was born in Mexico City, Mexico. She studied psychology at UNAM in Mexico City and is currently working in her thesis to get her bachelor's degree. She works at El Colegio de Mexico, doing social research. In 1999 she participated in a rural adult's teaching program, where she discovered her interest in language. She studied English and Italian and is now starting to explore her writing. Maria also practices yoga and loves reading and singing.
Maria De Vecchi and Robin Morrissey have collaborated on a project entitled "Animal: a/cross translation," in which Maria and Robin explore a cross-translation of an experimental work originally written by Maria in Spanish. Robin reads "Animal: a/cross translation" at Mess Hall on October 27.
