Donna Pecore has B.A. from Columbia College Chicago. She has contributed to Poetry in the Round's anthology entitled Word Curves, which is due out November. She won the first Alma Stuckey Award in 2006, and placed in the 2006 Frieda Stein Fenster contest. She has been published in CCC's online journal Reservoir Dog, the Alumni magazine Demo Four, and was a part of the graphic art installation Word 2 Word. She is a member of the Albany Park Journal of Ordinary Thought workgroup, and is included in several JOT journals. She participated in JOT's 2006 Humanities Festival presentation and the Chicago Tourism's "Art of Play" 2007 and Cathleen Schandelmeier's 2007 production "Foot Fantasia." She is proud to have been a part of the "Clothesline Project," which raises awareness about abuse of women. Her other credits include — "Best of Chicago Poetry," "Best of Chicago's Open Mic, Volume II," and "North Central College Review" — fall and spring editions.
Donna has performed her poetry at Beach Poets, The Café, and other venues. She has five self-published chapbooks. She is the mother of three (continued school as they matured), and the caregiver of her 85-year-old mother (who is feisty enough to spit her pills across the room at her). Donna Pecore is collaborating with Eiko Shimada and Radmilla Lunic on a project that is being performed at 32nd&Urban on October 27.
